The Science Internship Program of the DOST - Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System, persists to enlarge its connection and reach to look for more partners.

Around 155 incoming Grade 10 students from the different PSHS Regional Campuses nationwide, are part of this year’s internship program. Top universities and research institutions like UP Diliman, UP Manila, DOST Agencies namely PAGASA, Industrial Technology Development Institute, Metals Industry Research and Development Center, and Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, among others, participated this year.

An integral part of PSHS curriculum, SIP is a required course in the 6-year curriculum framework and offered in any summer or end-of-the-school year break for incoming Grades 10 or 11 students.

The program aims to develop science and engineering research laboratory skills among the interns as they interact with scientists, engineers or researchers by participating in their research projects; and to enable student-interns to identify possible research problems or topics to be undertaken in the future.

The internship cover tasks such as laboratory work, science research, design, or field work, computer programming and journal review at a partner institution. The program gives student opportunities to experience hands-on, minds-on learning while providing them a glimpse of their roles as the country’s future S&T leaders.
