October 8, 2015, Tanay, Rizal.  Eight (8) personnel from the DOST-PSHS System Office of the Executive Director (OED) visited Haven for the Elderly to conduct their outreach program entitled “Alay kay Nanay at Tatay”.  The OED donated basic goods such as bathroom tissue, sacks of rice, adult diapers, canned goods, biscuits/cookies, 3-in-1 coffee sachets and milk, then conducted a half-day activity to interact with the seniors in this nursing home.

The OED personnel met with Mr. Ricky A. Bunao, Center Manager of Haven for the Elderly and staff before starting the program.  The participants learned more about Haven for the Elderly, its goals, house rules, and a brief background of the seniors staying in this home.

Around 108 seniors joined the activity prepared by the OED in the morning.  The participants were divided into groups with one OED staff in charge of each group.  The OED personnel guided the seniors in the drawing and coloring activities, and facilitated the sharing of artwork to each other.  This activity paved the way for OED personnel to get to know the seniors more by listening to their (seniors) stories.
