In view of its 9th Founding Anniversary, PSHS System Executive Director Lilia T. Habacon urges the Philippine Science High School – SOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus (PSHS-SRC) to be a champion of quality education and government service.
“For being a champion by itself, PSHS-SRC continues to grow and become stronger in the passing of years,” said Habacon.
The Pisay campus in Koronadal City celebrates with the theme: “SRC @ 9: Serving, Responding and Championing in the New Normal” from February 3-6.
“As a campus, you have so much potential to surpass expectations. Respond to challenges through sound decision making. Be a champion of excellent quality education and government service to serve your purpose,” said Habacon.
According to Habacon, despite the harsh realities, the pandemic has given the PSHS System opportunities to champion worthy causes to serve other people in our immediate community.
“This rapid and unprecedented global challenge created a new normal that requires a new mindset that leads to actions that matter. With relevant institutional adjustments, the Philippine Science High School System has collectively moved forward while creating and sustaining new processes and mechanisms that meet the needs of the times,” said Habacon.
Habacon explained that this new mindset means choosing to work and serve proactively instead of getting stuck with the difficulties of adjusting to what confronts us and responding to make a difference by working together to achieve the PSHS mandate.
“Pisay-SOCCKSARGEN has the power to nurture and sustain the champions among its students, faculty members, and support staff. The teachers’ commitment to assure learning continuity for students, the dedication of the non-teaching personnel, and the leadership of your Campus Director Dr. Chuchi Garganera, are all proofs of valuable service that truly matters,” said Habacon.
To provide relevant training and professional development, PSHS-SRC is launching its new community outreach program called Bridging Academic Capabilities of K-12 Elementary plus High School Teachers (BRACKET).
“The recent winnings of your students in the 10th Online ACGS-ASEAN +3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science is a birthday gift to Pisay-SRC. I see it as a way to serve as good examples to other students that excellence is possible if we choose to be excellent, said Habacon.
Commending PSHS-SRC, Habacon added that joining that virtual science camp meant additional study load to their already loaded academic life. However, they chose to respond efficiently, and they are the champions who chose to excel and to uphold their commitment as flag bearers of Pisay.
