In view of government regulations and safety measures in response to our country’s efforts to beat the spread of COVID-19, the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System is introducing the Requirements for Admission, Criteria, and Evaluation (RACE), this year’s admission procedures for Grade 6 pupils who are interested to become a scholar at PSHS.
Applications submitted online and to any PSHS campus or DOST/Provincial Science and Technology Center will be evaluated in STAGE 1: Determining the Applicant’s Predicted NCE Grade (PNG). The PNG is based on the applicant’s final grades in Science and Math in Grade 5, as reflected in the report card submitted to PSHS.
Top PNG scorers will proceed to STAGE 2: Essay Writing and Applicant’s Academic Rank at the end of Grade 5. The top scorers will receive an e-mail or text message that they qualified to the Stage 2 of the admission process. Further instructions will be given in this e-mail or text message as to how the essay question will be sent and when and where to submit the essay.
The combined PNG, points from academic ranking, and score in the essay of the top scorers will be ranked from highest to lowest. The top 240 applicants will be automatically considered as Principal Qualifiers of PSHS-Main Campus in Diliman, Quezon City.
Regional PSHS campus qualifiers will be ranked per campus, and top scorers will be the Principal Qualifiers of this campus depending on the quota and number of Grade 7 scholarship slots of the campus.
The top 120 applicants for each of the seven PSHS regional campuses with 120 Grade 7 scholarship slots in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, Central Mindanao, and Southern Mindanao will be considered as principal qualifiers. The top 90 applicants for each of the eight PSHS regional campuses with 90 Grade 7 scholarship slots in Cordillera Administrative Region, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Caraga will be considered as principal qualifiers.
The final result will be available online at www.pshs.edu.ph.
